Once considered a top 10 player nationally, Chris Thomas has taken a step back from his verbal commitment to Xavier. Chris Mack met with his family in Denver last week and all appeared to be well but Thomas wants to be courted by the top programs as many of his current teammates are experiencing. Hard to say if this is the main reason for him taking a step back right now. It's hard to not wonder if the administration's handling of Dez Wells earlier this summer didn't have a negative impact.
If we want to try to look at this more positive...Thomas has bounced around to several schools in the last few years, was not necessarily a sure-fire bet to fully qualify next year, and is said to have a short fuse. But kids grow up and this kid is talented so I wish we'd have him signed next year at XU. There is no word that Xavier is out of his recruitment, just that that he's opened it up. Remember, Chris Mack & company have been in contact with Thomas for quite a while even as other schools cut off contact so maybe Mack's loyalty to the Thomas family will end up paying off in the end.
