Offseasons suck! Lawsuits, Recruits, and the Latest

Offseasons suck! Lawsuits, Recruits, and the Latest

If not for all the turmoil of each off-season, being a Xavier fan would be all good.

This week, news has broke that Dez Wells has filed a lawsuit against Xavier for smearing his character and wrongfully expelling him. It revolves around Xavier not giving him a fair chance during the expulsion and appealing process.

Just when we think we can put all the bad news behind us, this comes up. Who knows if Xavier will fight this or try to settle out with Wells outside of court. I hope this all ends very quickly but fear that it won't.

In other news, Xavier has informed 2014 verbally-committed Melvin Swift that they are no longer interested in bringing him in next year. It sounds like he will stay closer to home in Texas as he apparently recently had a child and has dropped in the recruiting rankings. The good news is that the class of 2014 is loaded and Xavier has many top players coming to tour campus this month.

Go Muskies! Please, let's get to Musketeer Madness without any more bad news!!!

Rumor is no Vez at Xavier this fall

August 5, 2013
After a great performance in an under-18 tournament in Europe in July, today Alexander Vezenkov is rumored to have signed a 3 year deal to play professionally in Europe.

Xavier fans were fearing this would happen. He had verbally committed to Xavier and Coach Mack but the demand for Vez in the European pro leagues has only gone up in the last few months.

Vez was expected to at least earn solid minutes at Small Forward and potentially compete with Justin Martin for the starting spot. This would leave a 2nd scholarship spot open for this coming season. It's likely that Erik Stenger will receive one of those two scholarships though.

No more BS at Butler

No more BS at Butler
Brad Stevens has left the Butler Bulldogs to join the Boston Celtics?!? Yes, it's true. On the eve of Butler's first season in the Big East, they have no head coach.

A Butler grad and a man who many considered a lifer at Butler, Stevens couldn't say no to the 6 year, $22 MILLION deal that the Celtics offered.

Butler grad and current Michigan assistant, LaVall Jordan, is the rumored top candidate at this point.

HAPPY XAVIER DAY! We are officially in the Big East!

July 1, 2013
It's Xavier Day today in Cincinnati as we officially join the Big East Conference. 26 years ago, Xavier's basketball program got their FIRST NCAA tournament win. The players', coaches', and athletic administrations' hard work over the years has paid off time and time again. Now, we can proudly say we are playing in a major basketball conference.

Festivities in Fountain Square will be happening from 11:30 to 1:00 and it's Xavier night at the Reds game tonight. Xavier players and coaches will be in attendance for both.

Hope you can make one or both events. GO MUSKIES!!!
