Just one thing here: Xavier Basketball

After a solid win over a SEC Alabama team last week, the Muskies go on the road to 2 more SEC schools, Missouri and Auburn. X doesn't mind facing the conference; they're going into Saturday with a 13-5 record vs the SEC since 2007. Let's hope for 15-5 after these next 2.

Xavier hasn't had any great resume-building wins this year and wins at Mizzou and Auburn wouldn't qualify for such either. But road wins looks good and with Missouri and Auburn looking like they'll have a tough year in the SEC, losing to the Tigers Saturday (or the other Tigers the following Saturday) might be considered a "bad loss".

The Muskies lost their last 2 in the tourney out in California, and predictably a small portion of Xavier Nation flipped out and overreacted.  We looked horrible in big stretches of those 2 games. But our team is made up of 9 freshmen+sophomores! They are young, inexperienced, and learning on the fly. They will learn from the sting of those losses and get better. The Muskies 3-pt defense has to get better, no doubt about it. And the wide open shots that weren't falling for X certainly were in their first handful of games so I think the shooting woes like that will not last long.

The Alabama Crimson Tide come to Cintas with a 5-1 record; the only loss being a 10 point loss against #13 Iowa State.The Muskies sit at 5-2 after losing their last two and will certainly be happy to have the home court advantage of Cintas Center in hopes of getting back to the win column.

Gobble gobble kids. Take your turkey to the couch on Thursday! The Muskies play San Diego at 4:30 on ESPN2. Round 2 is Friday and the final game is Sunday. These early season tourneys have bitten the Muskies of late. Let's hope the Muskies come home 3-0 from this one!

The Murray State Racers come to town tonight and the 3-0 Muskies will be waiting. Let's go X!

Xavier and their high-flying Freshmen go for 3 in a row to start the season as another axe-wielding monster comes to town. After beating the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks and the Long Beach State 49ers, X squares off against the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks. SFA went 32-3 last year and 18-0 in their conference; UCLA beat them in the Tourney in the Round of 32. Although they are expected to match that success this year, they are a solid team that will test the Muskies.
